Fringe Salon Chicago: Our Next Chapter in Bucktown

It all started in 2002 with a simple dream — to create a salon where everyone was genuinely kind. With an incredible team of talented stylists, estheticians, and manicurists, that dream became a reality. Kindness has always been our foundation, and it’s what has helped us thrive over the years.

Back then, Wicker Park was still a fringe neighborhood — a tight-knit community of artists and urban pioneers. Fast forward 24 years, and we’ve been fortunate to experience incredible growth and success. We opened our doors with just four of us: Dawn, Michael, Susan, and Ludwig. Since then, we’ve remodeled three times, expanded into the space next door, and eventually returned to our original footprint. Our large orange awning and matching ceiling became neighborhood icons — though the awning came down in 2017 to comply with historic preservation guidelines.

Over the years, Fringe Salon Chicago has earned numerous accolades, including “Best Salon in Chicago” by Allure Magazine, Chicago Reader, and Time Out Chicago. Our team has been recognized for Best Blondes, Best Short Cut, Best Pedicure, and Best Brows. We’ve had the privilege of serving celebrities, bestselling authors, politicians, and socialites — but more importantly, we’ve had the joy of growing alongside our loyal clients. What an incredible journey it has been.

As the beauty industry continues to evolve, we’ve made thoughtful adjustments to keep pace with the ever-changing landscape in Chicago.

And now, I’m thrilled to share our next chapter:
In January 2026, Fringe will be moving off Milwaukee Avenue to the sweetest little business district on the 1600 block of Cortland Avenue.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our new space — a fresh setting, with the same heart.
